The Booming Power of DLT in the Agriculture Sector
The conflict in Ukraine has caused a serious crisis in the agriculture sector. Not only have Ukrainian farmland, machinery and livestock suffered critical damages – the situation in the region has also resulted in a massive decline in the supply of many food products and a global increase in food prices due to Ukraine’s crucial role in the export of wheat, corn and sunflower oil. This crisis will have severe consequences in regions that already suffer from poverty and food shortages, and quick actions must be taken to tackle these challenges. In the light of these events, we want to highlight the potential of path-breaking and innovative technologies such as blockchain/distributed ledger technology (DLT) to solve problems in the agricultural sector. This event will showcase a few use cases where blockchain/DLT is used in this sector.
